Excellent location with great amenities

The warm cookie on arrival was a good touch, and I appreciated the hotel's proximity to local attractions like York Minster. The parking situation was a bit of a hassle, requiring us to obtain permits and navigate a busy car park nearby.

Units with 2 double beds.

Breakfast first class and Dining Room staff and Reception staff absolutely first class.

Arrived on the 19/12/2022 at 16.15 checked in at reception we when to our room and the room had not been serviced.As a matter of fact it looked like somebody had just got out of bed and left it unmade.The day after the room was in the same condition

Delightful traditional hotel with particularly good views of the cathedral. Unbeatable and awesome location to York Christmas market and family atmosphere in the whole property. So close to restaurants and centre.

Wi-Fi was terrible.

Fab location in York, helpful domestic and brilliant staff with the new restaurant manager. 10 minutes walk from central York. Relaxing & ideal room with comfy bed...

recently renovated room, fairly clean and wonderful relaxing place, hospitable staff. a lot of options for breakfast, excellent cereal and pastries. comfy beds and free wireless internet access, a good hairdryer, and coffee. favourable location for our visit to the bars just a short stroll away from the hotel.

The breakfast was great as normal, we have stayed here a few times. We just had standard room which was clean and a reasonable size, my only complaint would be the shelf rail in the wardrobe on which I scrapped my head when getting the kettle out.

Sand down the sharp edge on the shelf rail in the wardrobe, apart from this everything is fine.

Friendly reception staff. Excellent breakfast - again with friendly and efficient staff.

Room 30: toilet seat in need of repair. On the Sunday of our stay our room had not been serviced when we returned for a needed nap at 3pm. A direct approach to the housemaid staff and a promise of immediate service was ignored. Finally serviced - but too late for the nap, Also, plates of used food outside a room in the corridor from early morning for at least 12 hours. Finally, no toilet brush provided and yet the toilet remained uncleaned during that late servicr.

The hotel is centrally located. I encountered noise disturbances from the hallway and some maintenance issues with the air conditioning. It's a decent option for a short visit.
